I wanted to share the beautiful changes that are starting to emerge with Quick’s shell. This is why I love Leopard tortoises, you never quite know what your tortoise will look like as an adult. She was mostly black as a hatchling, but all her new shell growth is coming through as a striking bright yellow colour (the first picture was taken 2 months ago in May, the second and third pictures were taken recently in July).

It’s made me curious ... are there any other species whose shell appearance changes from hatchling to adulthood? I guess the star and radiated species. Any others?
