Hi all,

After giving Bonsai a soak for the first time since I rescued him I brushed some dirt off and noticed he has a few white spots on his shell, can anyone tell me if it is new shell growth, marbling or something i should be concerned about? He is estimated to be 25 so i don't think it's marbling but I'm new to owning the species so I don't exactly know when marbling normally starts.20181002_205406.jpeg20181002_205400.jpeg20181002_205336.jpeg20181002_205325.jpeg20181002_205328.jpeg

To me it looks like a mineral deposit from water.
See if it flakes off with a toothpick or something else not very hard.
Nice looking RF by the way.
Marbling fades well before the age of 25

Looks like new growth lines starting too me.
Either way, doesn't look like anything to be concerned about.

Yeah, I thought he was a little old to start marbling all of a sudden. I'll check to see if it flakes off in the morning, bonsai is asleep in his hide right now and he's already naturally grumpy, wouldn't want to wake him from his beauty sleep. I'm glad it's nothing to worry about though. Thanks so much!

Ok. It took a few days to check out the spots and see if they flake off since he is most active when I'm at work and asleep in his hide when I'm home. Anyway the spots don't come off at all.
