I can't help laughing at this thread. I can picture a scenario with 2 tortoises meeting for the first time.....one is in his captive enclosure in his owner's yard and one is walking along on the outside of the fence, in "the wild". (Kind of like "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" story.) The captive tortoise says to the "wild one" - "......so, I notice that your shell is a bit bumpy, old chap!"
Wild One - "MY shell??? Have you ever seen yours, D...UHHH???"
Personally, I cannot see what is known as "pyramidding" as beautiful or cute, just because I now know that it is due to being kept in or living in inadequate conditions.

I definitely think they should be smooth or they wouldn't be in the wild, I have a 18 year old who is smooth and I adopted 2 2 year olds who were smooth but are now pyramided, no idea how it works but I wonder of its when they are very young
Can I see your two 2yr olds that were smooth but are now pyramided please?
