I adopted an adult-ish Sulcata from Long Island Turtle Rescue. He's not into my plans and has a mind of his own, lol. He currently likes to bed down in a far corner of my yard that has dirt and digs in a bit. Well, he can't make a burrow there, so I need to make him a house. Right now I am picking him up each evening and taking him inside and releasing him each morning.
My husband and I are working together to find a night place for this guy. I understand why he picked this area and it is reinforced pretty deep under the fence. But he has no protection from predators and it is too far from the outlet should he need heat for the night.
My question is: Should I build his house where he wants to go in the corner, or in the spot that works best for me?
I had an original nighttime enclosure, but he's a bit bigger than I thought and it didn't work out once he got here. So I'm on to Plan B this weekend.
