So I've been taking care of a family friends 6 young Redfoots since their birth and recently the same family friend handed me two young African Spurred tortoises that he rescued from a very bad situation. I've been wondering what diet would be safest to sustain all eight tortoises on as I am still very much a novice on the subject.

Sulcatas and redfoots are totally different in requirements, both housing and diet. In case you are not sure, they should NOT be kept together.

Please refer to the care sheets and threads on diet you will find in their respective "Species" section of the forum.

Both species will require high humidity, but the sulcatas will need a good temperature gradient with a basking area kept at 95° and the "cool" side of the enclosure kept at 80°. Never let their enclosure drop below 80°.

The redfoots will do best in a humid enclosure with more of an overall temperature of the low to mid 80's°

Both will also need a good UVB light, or limited outdoor time at least a few times a week where they can get natural sunlight with plenty of shade available.
