It looks like an old leopard. How big is it?

Can you post a photo of the plastron? It appears to be a Testudo graeca (Greek Tortoise), but a belly shot will confirm. The Greeks have random black spotting on their plastron.

Testudo graeca for certain, most likely Testudo graeca marokkensis.

Can anyone tell us what type of tortoise we have? He is about 20 cm long and is at least 50 years old. Thank you

I don’t know if anyone can help, but we have two tortoises that look like the same species, but we are not sure. one of them is a lot smaller than the other, but both we found at similar times, about 50 years ago. is there a reason he is so much smaller? He eats quite a bit

If they are living together as a pair, that could be one explanation for why one is smaller. Could be different sexes or different species too.

We are not sure what has happened to the bottom of his shell, he was like that when we got him. We believe he was glued up or something like that. The photo is after we have cleaned him. Thank you for your help

I used to see a lot of testudo graeca cyrenaica with an almost black carapace, similar to yours. Can they be cyrenaica @HermanniChris ?
