Hi,

Please can you advise what kind of tortoise, these two beauties are? And if they look in good condition, as one appears to be more pyramided than the other.

They’re about three years old and came to us without any information or papers.

We’re in the UK, so currently kept indoors in an enclosure filled with wood chips that is approx 4ft square. Heat lamp is on 12-15 hours a day. They both enjoy their food. They tolerate baths, but don’t think they are that keen.

Currently building an enclosure for outside. We have a large (not well tended) lawn and last summer loved being outside chomping on clover daisies, buttercups and dandelions. Photo is from earlier this week when we had what may be our one day of British summer ?
Many Thanks

Looks like a Hermann's. The pyramiding isn't as bad as it could be, but regularly soak them to make sure it doesn't get worse.
Also, if you could, maybe make the enclosure larger? Med. Torts might be small, but they need A LOT of space. My baby who's barely bigger than my palm has the minimum of 2ftX3ft. I understand that it's hard to get a big enclosure, but it will really benefit your tort's health in the long run. It'll provide enrichment, room to move, and it'll make them happier overall.
In terms of baths, no tort likes them. What I find works best is make sure the water meets their tail so they don't accidentally inhale any water. The water should be ~90 degrees f or ~32 degrees c and they should be soaked for 20-30 mins. Other than that, they look very happy!

Post some photos of the plastron (bottom of shell)

Torts should not be housed in pairs. The enclosure is much too small for even a single tortoise of this size.

Here's a care sheet for them:

Omg yes, please get a much bigger enclosure for each of them.
The badly pyramided one looks to possibly have MBD but better pics are needed to better ID species and conditions.
