In the past 2 weeks my tortoise has been pooping irregularly.
I soak her daily and probably every other day she poops.
Last week her stool was incredibly watery - I fed her an egg, cucumbers, mixed greens, turnip greens, and cactus fruit. It was like she had diarrhea in her enclosure for the day, because she pooped about four times. It was also white, which I brushed off as urates.
This week her stool hardened since I fed her some mazuri and let her eat some grass outside, but it is this weird white/red color (red I'm guessing due to the cactus fruit) and it literally looked like raw meat. MAN does it smell!
I hate to jump to the worst case scenario, but could this be parasites? I feel like she should have pooped a lot more than she did after last weeks and this weeks food.
Should I just continue to watch her bowel movements and see if it improves with different foods? I've had her for 8 months and this is some weird poop.
Picture of today's excrement included.
