We've got all the box turtles but Ornates here in GA. That's why they won't let you own one because they're all native species.

The GA DNR just came to pick up the young female box turtle. My kids are very disappointed but we’re glad that as they said “it will be used as an ambassador for public education”

I know the kids are disappointed but you did the right thing. Try to help the kids understand we all only want what’s best for the turtle.

That must suck... You should look into getting a baby box turtle that is legal in your state! I believe they're not too expensive.
