Hello my turtle/tortoise friends. I've read here on the forum that when a tortoise had wAtery eyes, and wet looking around it's eye sockets, that it is possibly dehydrated. Currently, Dex, my sulcata, has a large terra cotta saucer that always has water in it, a "bath" hole with pond liner in it and mud (which gets filled 3-4 times a day), and she has her 6-7 foot in depth burrow. As she is 2.5 years old, I soak her 2-3 times a week in a small pool.

Weather in central California has been 90-95 degrees farenheit. Humidity doesn't usually get higher than 25%. I'm sorry if this has been a topic of discussion.
I do not know what could be the cause of any sort if dehydration. She does not have any other signs of dehydration (foaming, vomiting, lethargic, etc.). Her housing is insulated and is cooler than outside weather, so she has a few ways of escape from the heat.

No, not dehydrated...just hot. In Africa the sulcata tortoise is called the crying tortoise because the eyes are running and weeping. It might help if you give her a big mud hole to play in.

Well DOI! I should have thought of that. Now I feel a little silly. As mentioned in my post, she has a good size mud hole that's filled 3-4 times a day.
