I started with my aldabs in Miami. Spent 2 years in South Carolina. Now I am in Columbus Ohio. Not the best moves for the torts but it needed to be done.
So far they have been doing great. The bigger of the 2 was packing on a pound a month.
Now that winter is here I have been working on keeping them warm. I picked up a 6' x 9'greenhouse. I attached their heated nite hide to one end. I planted some sod inside gave them some water and hung some extra lights for a little heat and UV. The heated box that they sleep in never get below 70. The greenhouse stays above freezing at nite so far. Durring the day it can get 30 to 40 degrees hotter the the outside temp.
I know it is way on the small side but it was what I could do.

I figured I would post some pictures I have taken. Let me know what you think.

I wonder why I thought you had Manouria? not Aldabrans. They're looking great!

Welcome back, and now that I've seen these cute little faces I want one. :p I wish I had a lot of property so I could get one of those. They always look so gentle and they look as if they'd be social, are they? :D

I am correct that I haven't seen you post for a while right? :(

I figure they are about 5 years old now. I will have to weigh and measure them again tomorrow. Last time I weighed them the bigger one was over 30 pounds.
Nope I have never had any Manourias. Sorry. :)
I haven't posted in a while but I still read some posts every now and then when I can.
Its amazing how fast they have grown.
This picture was in the begining of 08.

WOW, I am impressed, they look great. For five years old they are on the fast track. May I ask where you purchased them or if you know the origination, they could be our hatchlings being out of South Florida. The growth looks healthy and consistant.

I don't believe that you're ever going to keep that greenhouse warm enough. What happens if the power goes out on a zero degree night? I can barely keep my house warm, let alone an uninsulated shed.

I don't need to keep the greenhouse warm at nite. The torts sleep in the heated box. Its on a thermostat so it stays at about 70f. As far as the power we have an auto backup generator.
