Need some insight
The underside of our baby is feeling soft and palable.
Like a weak plastic lid
Hes eating and ive been putting more calcium he seems to prefer alfalfa hay with romaine, clover, and sliced carrots. I also sprinkle faukners land tortoise food.
He has a uvb and a uva light as well as a ceramic heater for night. Ive been doing my best to keep humidity between 60-80 in his terranium... he soaks for about 20 minutes every morning.
Is he doomed? Can I fix this? Im new to this and dont want to kill the little guy

Pliable is normal.

Sounds like your diet and lighting might need some tweaks.

Where did you get this baby? It wasn't started correctly. It either skipped the brooder box entirely, or didn't spend enough time in there to let the umbilical scar heal up and close. This is common and unfortunate. Most breeders don't start babies correctly. Not much you can do about it now.

Hey Tom,
I purchased him from a breeder in Flordia :-/
As far as the lighting goes we have a dual light for day time that offers a 150 w uvb and a 100 w uva I like to start his day with just the uva then after about an hour the uvb kicks on as well and stays on till about 6pm when again the sun uvb goes off and then 7pm is lights out and the che kicks on to keep the little guy warm...
I do have one of the stupid mesh tank tops so I have been covering it with foil to try to keep humidity in.
Were about to move back to southern Califronia and I know he will enjoy the weather there much more that where we currently are.
Any thing up there you think needs updating?
I offer him a hide in his terranium and its usually about 85 in there and 97 outside
His diet has taken a lot of tweaking and its been really hard to find his needed staples I checked the website youd mentioned any recommendations on what to buy? Looks like theyre out of the cactus right now...
I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my posts ?
