I haven't seen tortoises posted for sale locally for YEARS. I don't know what is causing this sudden rash of them...

From what I understand it was less of a money issue and more that the kids lost interest and have a dog now, so the tortoise is no longer wanted

I love road trips too, but my pocket book lately doesn't, lol! I have had to resort to driving my truck lately and it is a gas HOG!

I called one of my friends that also does rescue in the area, and I am waiting to hear back from her. They do pretty regular transport between here and there, so I may be able to get him a ride

Nope We had a snow storm, and the current owner plows for a living, so it didn't work out yesterday.

However, plans are to pick her up tomorrow morning

Warmth won't be a problem I have traveled with torts many times in the winter - a styrofoam cooler, old towel and a heat pack are all that is needed for a toasty ride
