We are new to this ! Wonder if anyone can suggest what type of tortoise I have?
I’ve had him( I think he’s male) for many years but never been sure what type he is!?

That's a leopard tortoise. (Stigmochelys pardalis) And I think it's female but a quick look at the underside will tell for sure.

I was wrong. That's not a leopard tortoise. Most likely it's a Greek, but let's ask @HermanniChris

You have an eastern Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni boettgeri) without a doubt. Wonderful, classic, elderly animal.

Oh that’s fantastic to know , thank you!
I will try to find some info to read up on her (I think a girl as the she’ll underneath is flat!!)
She has been in the family for many years and she was passed down to me from my mother! She seems very content and enjoys wandering around the garden and also puts herself to bed in her hse each night but as she is getting older I feel I really must make sure I do the very best for her! She has always been a very fussy eater and struggled unless hand fed ... her eye sight is very poor!

Thanks again
Very much appreciated
Sandie
