Can anyone help me identify the species of this tortoise shell. My friend seems to think it is from North America. Also, they would like us to create a display case with a plaque identifying the species and ship it to them in London. Would anyone know if customs will allow this to be shipped out of the country?

Thanks, JB

RE: Tortoise Identification

jbank-It is an aquatic turtle not a tortoise. Looks like one of the American Slider or Cooter species (Trachemys or Pseudemys) the majority of which are found in the Southeastern U.S. There are many subspecies and geographical varieties.
That's about all I have, never been much of "Slider" guy.

RE: [split] Tortoise Identification

Hi "jbank":

Welcome to the forum!! May we know your name and where you are?

I've moved your question to its own thread so more turtle people will see it and help you.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the import laws, so can't help you there.
