If you look at the second picture, you can see an extra scute towards the back in between the dorsal scutes and the coastal scutes.

This means the tortoise was incubated in a higher temperature, causing more females to be hatched in that clutch.

(a "scute" is each individual little design on the shell)

Ohh, I noticed the extra scute (new word for me). So this means my sully is a girl?
