Trogdor is doing ok, though. He started FREAKING out (thrashing, trying to climb out, and generally acting like I was trying to kill him) about bathing, so I stopped for a while, but now he's looking a bit pyramided, so I think I'm just going to have to let him freak. His humidity is between 70 and 80 most of the time, so it's either that his growth rate is too fast (which I've been working on by feeding more veggies and less of the things he likes--protein and mazuri) and smaller portions. It's been a few months since I forced him to bathe, but this morning he sat quietly in his tub, so maybe he's over whatever phase that was. I haven't weighed him since early April (around his 1st birthday), but he was 507g then. I'll try to weigh and measure him tonight or tomorrow.

He's very social now, and will follow me around when I take him outside (though it's been unseasonably cold here, so he's only had a few excursions this season so far) or remove him from his enclosure for cleaning. He's even begun to really enjoy being "pet," and stretches out his neck for scratches. He's quite a cool little dude!

Troggy is 13 months old, 584g, and just bit over 15cm long. He's a little lumpier than I'd hoped, though his humidity is between 70 and 80 to 85%. I have to add about a gallon of water to his substrate once to twice daily to maintain that. He went on a soak strike for a while, thrashing and panicking, so I stopped soaking him for a few months, but he seems to be over that now so we're back to morning bathing.

He looks good to me. How often did you soak him before he e started his strikes

Daily, sometimes twice daily. Then we had a week or so of thrashing and trying to climb out, which made me worry he was getting too stressed. Here you can see his pyramiding a bit better.

Here's a shot from above.

I think he's still too young to sex, but I'd love to hear any opinions.

Hard to tell, but he looks more girly to me. Here are two small EDs that I have. Mango is male, Squirt is female.

So I can learn, can you give me some more info. Not questioning you at all, just curious about a few things.
How long have you had him?
When and for how long did you stop soaking?
Do you have records of his growing rate(weight)?

At 13 months my 3 weighed 247,178 and 141g.
The 247g is slightly lumpy, he is the greedy one too.
Today the 2 heavier ones are of similar weights, the ones that grew slower are smoother(could be coincidence).
All 3 lived together with same care.
The one on the right is the one that grew fastest through greed. The one on the left seemed to not have a fast growing spurt, steady growth throughout.

I got him in August, and he was 72g and 7.5cm long then. He's gained roughly 80g per month since then, and grown lengthwise in fits and starts. He started getting weird about his soaks in December or January, and I stopped them until this week, but kept his humidity as high as I could, adding water twice daily.

I sort of wonder if his growth rate isn't part of the issue. I started cutting back on his food recently (he is obviously a bit fat--when he retracts into his shell he's got fat sticking out around his head and legs) and practicing touch love about weeds and other non protein/Mazuri items, as he's pretty picky and I was finely chopping these things and blending Mazuri in to get him to eat.

He's active and healthy, but obviously I'm a little disappointed that he's not perfectly smooth.

He's not bad at all. Looks good. Minor minor minor pyramiding , looks like mine on the right.
What I noticed with mine is, the angle of the pyramiding is continually the same, it looks the same on yours. So yeah humidity, soaking etc plays a major role. But I'm thinking growth rate too, Also the diet, if I fed mine spinach kale and protein every day it would be as though it's on steroids, forcing the growth. The plot thickens.

So up to trying to get him on weeds, what did you feed?

Thanks for your help.

Weeds (testudo mix, dandelion, grasses, clover), fruits, grocery store greens, some hard boiled egg, but aside from the protein, all minced and mixed with mazuri or he'd totally ignore it. In the last few months I've stopped that and if he doesn't eat his veggies or fruit, he just doesn't eat. We still do mazuri once a week or so. He's gotten less picky.

I haven't frequented the forum much lately, but Troggy is getting big and I'm about 85% certain now that he's male. He's got the right shaped ventral scutes and he's starting to look a bit concave. He's about 18 months old and around 2# at this point, so it might be too early to guess. I'll try to get some photos in the next few days.
