Hey guys, so I keep 2 Indians Star tortoise outdoors. For the last month, they never eat the food I give. I always see them eating the grass. And there’s a lot of grass in the outdoor enclosure they live. The food I give them is Mazuri pellets mixed with Chinese vegetables . The vet said it’s fine to give them chinese vegetables. She just told me to mix it up. Should I be worried?

You've given them a nice setup with enough vegetation. I'd not worry on what they should eat. Instead, I'd just offer and leave the decision to them.

Hi,
What are the Chinese vegetables you're feeding?

Hi,

It’s called Kang Kong aka Water Spinach, Chye Sym and long beans. I’ve kept them outdoors for 21 years, they’ve always eaten the food but now suddenly they stopped.

Thanks, I don't know about Star torts, but hopefully that will help other keepers of them to advise you.
It's good that they are still eating.
If you haven't already found it there is probably a caresheet for Indian Stars that will give you more information about diet.

Thank Youuu, this definitely help me tick off all the boxes that I was doing right. The Chinese vegetables I give them are mentioned in the care sheet. It’s called water cress. Plus went to check on my tortoises and was relieved to see them eating the food I left for them

Most of my tortoises live outside. During our rainy season we have all sorts of weeds and grasses spring up. When that happens, there is no point in offering "food" because they walk over it to get to the weeds and grasses. Where you are, its a perpetual rainy weedy season. Grass is great food for them.

Thanks for the reply Tom, it’s kinda rainy season. I still bring them in to the heat lamp when I’m paranoid but they always go back to the Pandan Plant. Just bought 4 more Pandan plant since they love it so much.
