I was wondering if anyone knows of any good websites or books where I can research laws (state to state or Unites States) regarding the selling of tortoises? I was just curious and started thinking about breeders and whether they have to claim the money they make from selling their tortoises to the IRS, even if they don't own a reptile business.

claiming money for the iRS depends on how much you make i believe, that goes for anything you end up selling, i think.

Doesn't both me...I was just looking into it because I was considering selling some of my hatchlings that I have now and I want to make sure I am doing it correctly. I surely don't want to get into any trouble. No trap, just looking for a website to help me know the laws of selling torts. Thanks for the help.

My understanding if you sell anything you have to pay the taxes on it.

But you dont want to look at tortoise laws you want IRS laws...

Only if you made a profit.

Good rule-of-thumb: deduct EVERYTHING you legally can, because the Government will otherwise just spend most of what they take from you on things yoiu won't approve of! ;)
