I am putting together a first aid kit for my tortoises. Please help me think of things I can put in it. Things that come to mind are
Anti-Fungal cream Clotrimazole (Lotrimin AT)
Bacterial cream- Terramycin or Acriflavine
Styptic Powder to stop bleeding caused by clipping nails too short
anyone have anything to add

This is a good idea. When you get all the ideas others will give, you should put it all together in one thread and maybe Josh or a mod could make it a sticky. Would be nice to have a quick reference to go to.

Here's a few things I use that are not previously mentioned when/if they get sick or injured:
Povidone Iodine
Q-tips
Couple jars of baby food (sweet potato or squash)
Soft-brislted tootbrush

While searching some old threads, I came across this Terramycin eye ointment. Also syringe with out needle to help flush out eyes, mouth and even nostrils. Also sterile water for the flushing above.

Here is an article I did on it some time ago-

https://sites.google.com/site/tortoiselibrary/health-and-medical/first-aid

- Disposable gloves (to minimize chances of disease and infections)
- Scissors with small, strong, sharp blades
- Scalpel blades and handle (A clean, new #11 X-acto blade works)
- Pet toe nail clippers or diagonal cutting pliers
- Tweezers with good, sharp points
- Tongue depressors, clean Popsicle sticks, wooden skewers or chopsticks (for splints or to hold open the mouth)
- Magnifying glass
- Penlight
- Chemical heat packs, hand warmers, etc.
- Sterile gauze squares, 2x2” and 3x3”
- Roller gauze or self-cohesive tape (Vet Wrap), 2"
- Paper first aid tape, 1” wide (used as a 'first layer' to protect the scales and scutes)
- Electrical tape or waterproof first-aid tape (stronger tapes to use on top of paper tape)
- Alcohol or alcohol wipes
- Wound disinfectant such as Providone-Iodine Scrub (Betadine)
- Antibiotic ointment (silver sulfadiazine ointment or 2% mupirocin ointment are much better than 'triple antibiotic' or other drug store ointments)
- Petroleum jelly or Bag Balm (to ‘seal’ injuries)
- Styptic powder or sticks, Kwik Stop, or cornstarch (to stop slow bleeds)
- Antibiotic ophthalmic ointment for eyes, e.g., Terramycin
- Cotton-tipped swabs or small sponges
- Eye wash solution or sterile water in a squirt bottle (to rinse eyes or wounds)

In an earlier draft, I also had an emergency shell-repair kit (quick set-epoxy and some long strips of tin, about 1/2 and 1" wide that can be cut into 'bridges' to glue onto shell fractures; and a 'transport kit' of an insulated tub, paper towels, chemical warmers, etc.

I don't keep a special kit, I just have the stuff available in my family first aid kit.
