I started to feel bad after reading the article because i was more worried about the tort than the house

WOW!!! I was definatly more worried about the torts then the house, it is amazing she survived in that tank w/ the fire and the smoke. AMAZING!!!

Just goes to show how great tortoises are. They can start fires on their own, and then live through them!

Do you guys really think the tortoise moved all that hay under the light? Or perhaps the owner is just saying that 'cause she doesn't want to admit she did it and made a mistake!

We re-named one of our leopards Pyro after she started a fire in our house. She knocked a floor lamp onto a pile of magazines/newspaper. It took effort for her to be able to manage what she did....it never crossed my mind that she could get into that kind of trouble, I thought the place was "tortoise proofed". Thankfully, our dog alerted us to the problem before the fire alarms even went off. I was able to grab the burning pile of paper and throw it in the tub. And pyro...happily wandering around looking for more trouble to get herself into.
