Well i have not been on TFO for a while due to family problems...So i think a slight update on the 'kids' is due! :)

Tiago!
He Lost 25g a couple weeks back and i think i over exagerated and got really worried about it!
But i weighed him yesterday (2 weeks prior) and he has put over 100g back on in 2 weeks so i worried for nothing maybe a random weight drop....or a fight for food. It is all monitored in a book so if there is a patter i will find out soon enough and try to resolve the problem. I have given them a big food dish for both of them as when big momma finished hers she would eat tiagos whilst he is still asleep but they share nice now! :) He keeps trying to,
'Get it on' with big momma but she is being typical and having none of it!
Tiago bites her face everynow and again and rams her shell, often recently...is this signs of mating?

Big-Momma!
She is being very stubborn with breeding with tiago, but id rather them not breed yet. abit early if you ask me! She is gaining weight often as usual she eats like a pig! As usual. She is very laid back compared to when she was first brough home (9-12-11) She was very wick, climbs alot, digs alot but every morning she is up at 6am-7am ready for the light on Tiago comes out about 7.30 when the food is there. Big momma waits for a stroke every morning as it has become a ritual everyday, tiagos not that sorta guy but he gets a shell stroke to avoid jealousy( ;) )
I love them to bits 100% devoted. i was unsure about her at first as she was very wick, but she has calmed down alot i dont know what happened, i dunno what i would do without them!

Tortoise picture update!!

This morning basking:

Now the cage!
The enclosure has been changed ...abit.... i taken out the built in hide added a wooden hide with a piece of cork ontop which they love sleeping in, under the basking area i have plantation soil (coco coir) and the rest is forest bark. They have a fogger whoch runs when i think it needs to be it is great when it is on it reaches 99% humidity and then drops and stays at about 75%-81% throughout the day it does not wet the substrate which is great it is just damp air which i prefer and it is not misted as often anymore...check it out.

Tortoise view of the hide :

After the fogger ran for about 15minutes:

I remember when you built your enclosure and you built it for one tortoise then got another after it was finished.... a bigger one in fact.

Question.... is your enclosure big enough for 2 that size? Tiago is still young and Big Mama may be old enough for breeding but the actions you discribe is not Tiago trying to mate but Tiago defending his turf.

Might be time to rebuild....or seperate.

Tyler, their enclosure looks really nice. Yes, definitely keep an eye on Big Mama, sounds like she is holding her own for now.

Are you thinking about what you will do for them this summer? :D We never stop planning...
