Third Annual Calendar Photo Contest VOTING Thread!

Voting for our Third Annual Tortoise Calendar Photo Contest has begun! Members who registered before the beginning of the contest may choose UP TO NINE photos to vote for. You will need to make all your selections at once; you will not be able to vote for a couple now and a couple later. There will be no altering of any vote that has already been cast - please don't ask. Members will have until October 20, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST to cast their votes.

The top 12 photos will be added to the calendar. A collage of ALL of this years' entries will also be in the calendar.

The photo with the most total votes will win a $50 gift certificate for TortoiseSupply.com!

But I wish he had put the names with the picture. I think it IS a personality contest partly. I also think that next year there should be a membership time limit to avoid the newbies who make the calendar contest their first and only post and don't participate at all. They just join to be in the calendar. I am not the only member who feels this way, just the only one who's not afraid to speak out. I wish I had read about getting 9 votes. I missed that and just voted for Bob once...Looks like Bob won't be in the calendar this year.

I thought that's how it was now? Did I miss something? After I voted then I could see how many votes each one got. Of course I didn't look before I voted so I could have missed something.

It was an open contest and I rather enjoyed having so many pictures from which to choose. I'm a new member myself, though I joined a bit before the contest, so maybe that's why it doesn't bother me. I know 1 thing, by the time I got halfway through the pictures I had used all my votes and had to uncheck a couple by the time I hit bottom(I felt bad doing it too, soo many great pictures!). Alas if only I had been given 30 votes to use I could have voted for myself. Great pictures everyone, good luck.

quick question what happens if there is a tie for the top spot, or a tie for say the last two spots and there are four or five pics with the same number of votes? run off?

In the unlikely event of a tie, there will be a 24-hour run-off.

Well, that took a while! I don't think it mattered that people's names weren't with the photos to be honest because people who are regular visitors to the site know who's photo's are whose. Perhaps anonymous submissions would have been able to rid the 'popularity contest' aspect of the voting, if that even is the situation, personally I really don't mind, I just enjoyed seeing everyone's submissions and voted for what I thought were the best photos. Good luck everyone.

I screwed up on my vote too, only voted once instead of 9 times... goes to show you should ALWAYS read the instructions first
