The whaling trade is responsible for the extinction of seven species of tortoises in the Seychelles. The Aldabran Tortoises survived only because the other islands were easier to 'mine'.

What the whalers did not kill, the goats, pigs, cats, and rats they left on the islands took care of- destroying nests and eggs, and young torts the whalers did not find.

Its bad enough what they did to the whales, but dang.
