Hello!

Just got a few questions on lighting! I've got an enclosure thats around 14" tall (36cm) which has a screen top. I was wondering if I should get a T5 HO with a Reptisun 10.0 or 5.0?
I understand that the screen will filter around 20-30% of the UVB but I just wanted to get some advice from the pro's!

(I've got a baby leopard tortoise!)

*I am using the mesh cover to trap humidity and control ambient temps in (Covered parts of it with cling film) -but will have space without cling film for the T5 HO Fixture.

Can anybody help direct me in the right direction?

Thank you!

At 14" and through a screen a T5 5.0 might struggle to provide adequate UVB for your Leopard.
However, a more powerful 10.0 might need to be raised a bit.
Without a UVB meter, it's just guess work.
I'd go for the T5 10.0 for this enclosure. And reccomend you get a SOLARMETER 6.5 or a 6.5R.
Look for a reading of about 3.5.

Search out my post:
"Real world UVB test done"
In it I test out T5 5.0 and then T5 10.0 REPTISUN tubes through a screen and without a screen with my SOLARMETER 6.5R
