I was wondering if any one can help me? I have a russian tortoise and recently his left eye lid looks swollen, somtimes it waters. I have been to the vet who has given me some drops for the eye. Other wise he is eating and drinking normal. The other eye is fine.

What kind of lighting are you using? If it's a coil bulb or compact fluorescent, this is probably the problem and stop using it, they have been known to cause eye problems. Otherwise, it may have something in it or he got poked with something that just is irritating it. Do the eye drops and see if it improves. If you have the kind of bulbs listed above, it won't improve until you stop using them.

Get rid of the coil bulb, that's the problem. Get a tube flourescent UVB or a Mercury vapor bulb.

The eyes will clear up when you stop using the bulb. It might take a few days or so, but it will clear up.
