Crush is a 25 pound male that we're sitting for a bit. He has PLENTY of graze and room to roam, but he keeps trying to eat the leaves of a Chinese Tallow tree that we have in the yard. He runs for it like it's squash or something! Is it toxic to him?

I read that the flower and "nut" are edible....also in china they use plant extract as cooking oil...I also found that the sap is toxic.....soap is also made from the plant extract....that's all I've found......googled. :D

Here is a bit of info on your tree in question...

I googled it too, and found no information about it's toxicity for tortoises. Looks like we'll keep dragging him away from it! I found it interesting that the Chinese Tallow makes up a full 23% of trees in the Houston area. No wonder I see them so much!
