Sulcata Cough

Hello everyone,

I have a 5 year old Sulcata Tortoise which has recently started to make a cough-like sound pretty regularly. I took her to the vet two weeks ago and they found nothing wrong with her. She is active, eating normally and does not have a runny/bubbly nose. I have noticed she make the sound while in her enclosure but not when free-roaming my house. Is is possible that she is allergic to the substrate? She has topsoil over a portion of her enclosure and hay in the other section. Has anybody had any experience with tortoise allergies?

Thanks so much for the help.

Tortoises/reptiles, geneally don't have allergies, like mammals do. I personally have never haad a coughing totoiise. Would it be possible to gt a video of the tortoise making the sound? Does she do it he entire time she is in the enclosure? at certain times?

I will try to make a video as soon as she coughs again. She does not cough constantly, but will make the noise in spurts. She does not make the noise while in her enclosure or sleeping, but besides that I haven't noticed any other patterns.

Like a wheezing noise? Have you ever seen what she does when she coughs? (like, mouth open?)

To me, it sounds more like a cough than a wheeze. She does open her mouth when it happens.
