Hi everyone!

Hope all is well.

Recently, we changed our tortoises enclosure to one of those plastic kiddie pools...

Well, our tortoise will circle around the pool. Wondering if a circular enclosure was a bad idea..

Also, any tips on how to put a top over it to keep the required humidity level would be greatly appreciated. As for any recommendations for a humidity gauge, as we still need to get rid of our current dual analog one as suggested by a member.

(Still need to find plants. This picture is when we first assembled it, so the furniture has been rearranged as per a member's suggestion, also got a stand for the heat lamp. We appreciate the tips, advice, and suggestions! ?)

Tortoise will patrol round , square or oblong looking for an exit. As long as the environment heat, light, water, diet etc... are all as they should be,. it will settle in. For a cover there are numerous suggestions in previous threads that look tent like.

Several members are using portable greenhouses over their enclosures. They are inexpensive and work well.

They also come in a multitude of different sizes and shapes...just give Amazon a search for "portable greenhouse".

You can try cabinet liner to place on top. Clear cabinet liner.
You can get those light fixture stands and get a cinder block to keep it stable.

I know of no way to keep up humidity in an open topped enclosure like that other than to heat and humidify the entire room where it is kept. That type of enclosure is only suitable for outdoor time if well shaded.

You can get digital thermometer/hygrometers at Walmart of any hardware store garden section.

What species are you housing in there? What size?

Housing a western Hermann's. He is 6 months and 107g.

Yeah, we want to get a top over it because there's no way it's keeping humid. We must it throughout the day. But that's why we are trying to top it off.

Thank you so much for this information!
