Hey all, My 2 adult indian stars are off their food.

I keep them in 85degrees-70degrees. The humidity is 85%
I feed them leafy greens, with occasional carrot strips or banana.
They are bathed every day for 15 minutes.

But one week ago we noticed a decrease in food consumption.... now today nothing.

No swelling, no bubbles, no breathing problems evident.....just not eating.
Any ideas?

How long have you had them for? Sometimes females stop eating prior to laying or if they are eggbound.

I have had them for 8 years. They are the only two in the enclosure and I thought they were boys.
Happy to be corrected, but both have stopped eating.DSC05411.JPG DSC05412.JPG DSC05412.JPG

I am not sure if that worked....... I think it uploaded on pic 2 times.
No bullying.... they have been together for so long and always sleep together, etc.

First one is definitely a female. Second pic I can't see clearly but looks female to me also. Is the second one a Burmese star?

This is the first one from the top... I thought this one was the Burmese.

If they are eggbound, wouldn't they be more active? Looking for nesting areas?
How could I tell?

What do I do?
Any tips would be good.

Have either been around any other tortoises? It's weird that they aren't eating all of a sudden.

No, I have many other tortoises, but they are always kept separate.
None of my others are exhibiting anything but normal behaviour.

Look for signs of them digging and sniffing the ground. Do they have somewhere to dig that's deep enough? Roughly around 12".

They don't have an area to dig. They are not sniffing or even moving around much at all. They just sit near the heat lamp and have shuffled in and out of the heat zone a few times today, but that's it.

They are both Indians, and it looks like you have a pair (female pictured first, then male).
Very cool! Try changing up the food for them. They may just be bored. Or spray down the enclosure real well, that gets my stars up and moving around and curious to see what is on the menu.

We have offered them all their favourite items and they are still not eating. Cleaned the entire enclosure out today and moved everything around and still nothing happening. If they are bored then they are really doing it to spite me.

I would take a trip to the vet. Check for parasites and get xrays to look for eggs. Sounds like something is wrong to me.

I live on the island of Borneo and sadly there are no vets anywhere near here. The nearest vet is almost 200km away. I have managed for years without a vet. It is now xmas morning here and still very little movement. I am really getting worried now.
The bigger one has moved a little.... but still no eating.
I will keep people posted.

Update#1 -
Gave them a reptaid bath just now.... in case it is parasites or worms.
Now on newspaper to make sure they did hydrate and drink in the bath.
