My squash and pumpkin leaves have been getting the squash mold. Is it still safe to feed the torts? I haven't been feeding them the moldy leaves and have been cutting them off as soon as the mold occurs but with it being so wet this year the squash mold has been out of control. :(

I've never heard of that disease, however, I don't feed moldy stuff to my animals. Some animals can take it, and it makes some sick. I don't know about tortoises, so I err in the side of caution.

I have never heard of that either. I would not feed the moldy part. However, is it an apple that has a bad spot that you can cut off and the rest is still perfectly normal? If so, that's the part that should be okay to feed.

That white stuff on it is not mold its fungus. You can spray Dawn dish soap with water to kill the fungus. Then wash it really good and it will be ok to feed .

Sorry I knew it was a fungus which is why I asked. I thought well they can eat Shrooms. I just won't feed it if it's unknown.

I will have to try that in the garden. I just read it stays in the soil for two years.
