I was wondering if any of your aldabras prefer to bathe in deep water or shallow. I started feeling her bath to the middle of her shell and she seems to love it. And does anyone else have an Aldabra that will put her head completely under the water and walk across the bottom of the pool

Of course. They love the water. Mine prefers deep water too. She has a pond in her outdoor pen and regularly swims in it.

My Aldabra is just under 800 grams and has only recently started going into the water on its own. I suppose it could be going in every day while I'm away, but I've only seen it sitting in the shallowest part of it's water once (this Saturday). Additionally I've never found any droppings in the water. When it walks around the enclosure and comes to the water, it has always gone out if its way to go around the water bowl. I've read a lot about the adults liking mud and water, but not so much info about the juvies. Perhaps now I need to dig a little pond with a deep end. So interesting to learn the habits of a new (to me) species!

I always soak mine in deep water and sometimes until he's actually floating.

He doesn't seem to mind it, nor does it really likes it as well.
