soaking

I have a North American box. I keep water available to her 24/7 for soaking. Have done this for 8 years,ever since I have had her. Is this unusual? She is extremely active and healthy and has a beautiful shell. When inside,under a light I take her out at bedtime. In the summer,she is outside in her pen and takes herself out. I take it this may be different from other types of turtles? We live in USA,Maryland.

You're fine. Box turtles LOVE the water and quite often will sit in their water all day.

Yup, they are turtles and not tortoises, so they prefer water.
