Do any SoCal hosts have gopherus still sleepy heads? I do. Our weather has been quite wonky. Our March felt more wintery than the previous 3 months. I'm wondering if I should step in, and wakey wakey time. Your thoughts? Thanks.

2 of my 3 have woken up and resumed normal activities. The third is still in her burrow and felt much cooler to the touch and lethargic. I’m letting her choose when to come out but I still pull her out to soak and check that she’s still alive!

Hello my friend

I’ve waken mine up and allowed them to wake themselves. When I’ve intervened, I made sure the daytime temps were expected to be in the upper 70’s, for a week. This would allow them to really warm up, eat, drink, etc. After that week, they can do what they need to do. If there is a cool day, they’ll stay in their burrow. I just make sure they get a warm start. I have a funny feeling you will be quite successful.
Enjoy your Shellie’s! They’re so lucky!
xoxo

Hi Kathy!

Yes, what I am thinking exactly.
We may have a few more cool, 60+-ish days.
Rain possible Saturday. Soooooo ...
After Sunday, everybody needs to be up enjoying spring.
Rise and shine time. Mid 70s incoming.

We are rather late warming up this year.
And it snowed in some parts back east, for goodness sake.
