Sleeping outside hide?

My tortoise ? Steve today is sleeping outside his hide the temp is 85 and humidity in between 86-90 is that normal? He usually burrows in his hide. I add a heat pad on the underside of the tank I have him in to help keep the humidity up.

Is Steve a baby? If he's in an aquarium he can sleep wherever he wants. But I believe at that stage he needs to be taught to sleep in a hide. That way as he gets bigger and his territory changes he will still put himself to be, that's just my opinion. Also, you should not use an under tank heating pad as they can be damaging to a small plastron. Mary Knobbins takes herself to be every night at 7 pm.
