Do any tortoise breeders out there use shipyourreptiles.com? If so, could you tell me about your experience with the site?
I use shipyourreptiles a lot. Not only for shipping turtles and tortoises, but for shipping supplies and even my smaller enclosures - anything under 150 lbs. They have been wonderful to work with and very responsive and easy to reach with any need or question. The owner, Chad is also extremely accessible if I have special concerns or issues.Do any tortoise breeders out there use shipyourreptiles.com? Agree completely!I have had two tortoises shipped that way vie FEDEX. It is safest to use to a FEDEX Hub nearest them and not a home address. You go to the desk and at least for me since it was alive animal it was in the climate controlled room right behind them. They enjoyed the unboxing as much as I did.
Thanks a lot eases my mind.I use shipyourreptiles a lot. Not only for shipping turtles and tortoises, but for shipping supplies and even my smaller enclosures - anything under 150 lbs. They are great a posting notices of issues that would cause them to suggest avoiding shipping at times of uncertainty. Like recently with storms blocking main transfer sites for shipments.
I would certainly recommend them and to call them with any help needed if you are new to shipping.
Yeah, this is my first time considering selling. I'll keep that in mind. Do they pick up the reptiles from your home as well, or do you have to take them to the office.I used shipyourreptiles and found their customer service lacking. Calls weren't returned and help was not offered. Will told me about Reptiles2you, and I much prefer using them for my shipping labels now. Several times over the years odd things have come up, and Debbie, the owner, always answers my calls and has a solution.
I get my shipping supplies from superiorshippingsupplies.com. Styro-lined boxes, heat packs, etc...
That's smart. This is going to be my first year selling turtles and I'm nervous about.Agree completely!
When shipping tortoises I only use Hold for Pickup at nearest Hub. I also only drop off at my nearest hub. That way there is no travel in a delivery van with multiple stops in a van that can get way too cool or too hot for a tortoise no matter how well packed.
You need to find a person who does a lot of shipping and get some tutoring. There are a lot of details to it. I did this with several friends and they helped me to get it right and shared their immense shipping experience with me. Find someone who can mentor you through it. Its too much to type here.Yeah, this is my first time considering selling. I'll keep that in mind. Do they pick up the reptiles from your home as well, or do you have to take them to the office.

Too many just think about THEIR convenience instead of their new"property".I use it as well and require pickup at Fedex hubs also. I’ve had several buyers annoyed by this, which I find strange since the small inconvenience can possibly save their animals life. Anyways, great company so far!
