@HLogic it kind of looks shriveled. Could that be because of the sugar?

Dex's identity changing from a "She" to a "he" has been such a surprise to me! I adore Dex and really hope HE heals quickly. Keep us posted on how things go at the vet.

@HLogic I've tried that even after soaking. The skin is really fragile. I just got home from work and it's like this now

At least it looks like it will retract on its own. Have you tried a cold shower?:p

Turns out, he's a she. It was her vulva....thankfully, as determined through x Ray, she's not blocked up and has no stones. The vet also said she doesn't see to many that are healthy like she is.

The vulva in this state can be caused from straining to poop, parasites, and the condition it looks was caused from bacteria built from the sugar soaks. I'm to continue the sugar soak 2-3 times a day, put an ointment on it, and keep her in a clean place. Which will be my bathroom.

To determine parasites contributed, a stool sample will be collected. The first step is to use the ointment to keep it moist. If that doesn't work, get the stool and fix the parasite intrusion. The vet said last and worst case, amputation. She mentioned that she's confident the first treatment s will do the job, especially since she's seen much worse.

All fascinating stuff. Intriguing thread.
But most of all I hope that SHE will be fine in the end.
Good luck.

Much appreciated, I know she will be okay. I just hate to feel like I'm doing everything best for my guys and then they suffer.

You clearly love your tortoises .
This was a very unusual situation that has baffled many long term members.
You've been a member here for a long time, listening, learning and asking.
It's impossible to be perfect with these complicated, wonderful, difficult animals.
You give them your love, care and do the best you can.
No one could criticize that or ask for more.

Thank you. Glad it helped a little. I know what it's like.
Not sure it needed re-posting though ?
