THIS IS NOT MY TURTLE.

This picture was posted on instagram by one of my followers and I'm trying to help determine what it is.

Is it shell rot? Mineral deposits ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I will pass it along to the person who owns this turtle.

I already looked at that page before I posted. I still can't tell if it's just mineral deposits or if it's shell rot.

That's why I posted here for advice from people who have dealt with it, and might know up front a yes or no.

Please any advice would be appreciated thanks!

I would suspect shell rot and treat it as such. If it is just mineral deposits - it should just scrape off with a fingernail.

Looks like shell rot.. There are two types, wet and dry. Dry is less severe and can be treated easily, but wet shell rot can cause BIG problems for that turtle and the owner. It is relatively easy to treat it and prevent it form coming back...

I'd take him to a herpetologist too.
