Shell ok?

My desert tortoise is about a year old and I noticed some light spots I don't previously recall being there.

Is this a) normal?

If not, could it be caused by a scrape? Or what else might be the cause?

It's acting normal, doesn't care if I touch those spots, etc. Just wanted to make sure I'm being mindful

It's hard to tell if it's under the shell and showing through or if it on the shell, like a scrape. I don't know what it is, but if it really worries you, I'd find a GOOD tortoise vet and get his opinion. But my GUESS is that it's probably nothing.
