Just adopted these two "desert tortoises" 3 days ago . . .took my husband about 5 minutes to figure out theyre actually sulcatas! Lucky us! Meet Walter and Jesse :)

Photos are from their current small outdoor space, though we will be building them a new enclosure with much more space as they grow.

Nice to hear.

In that case you must have a lot of space, right?

Yes, indeed. My property is large. I have a renovated and heated barn where the torts should live when they are getting too big, but I enjoy it so much to have them in the living room and to watch them every day.

Are those like Shell staples?
Twix has had a few surgeries to repair his shell, they are screws and wires. After a year and a half they have been removed and his shell is stable. I have an incredible vet!

Greetings

Massive thunderstorms and tons of rain continue to almost daily roll through our neck of the woods this Summer. The grass, killed off by early drought is now loving it - as is our Sully! Seems to know right when it is going to pour down so he comes out for a good soak in the rain and mud.

This is my (almost) three year old Sulcata named Archimedes. He was out enjoying a hot sunny summer day in the yard.
