Hi guys,

Can you please help me identify (if already possible, of course) the sex from my cherry-head?

She/he is already about 4 1/2 years old.

Any insight is much appreciated!

Greetings from Brazil,

Marcello.

Thanks for the pics, it is really cool to see what a “native” cherry looks like! Most of what we see are captive bred in the states or those recent imported farm bred cherries. She is a beautiful girl!

Here in Brazil the legal cherry-head pet trade is restricted to really few suppliers (as far as I can tell, two only). All the tortoises are farm raised, but come from different country areas and therefore were exposed to different environments in their early ages.

If you are curious @allegraf here follows their websites, map positions, and a bit about the weather in each of this states:

Jabuticon - jabuticon.com.br - They are from Brazil's northeast region and from a state (Bahia) well known for having a really hot and only mild humid weather.

Reserva Romanetto - www.reservaromanetto.com.br - They are from Brazil's south region a from a state (Paraná) which uses to have mild temperatures with a humid weather.

Peroni came from the Bahia state, as when I bought her from the retailer there were only the first guys in the pet trade.

Best,

Marcello
