So I have a Sulcata living in a greenhouse. He has a box following Tom's design inside the greenhouse. I have another of these boxes just out in my yard with 5 Russians wintering in it. I kept them up because just got them in the late summer, and they are underweight. Gaining nicely, but I digress.
This morning when I woke up it was 7 degrees. Fahrenheit. Sully's box never went below 80 and the Russian were a perfect 72. Once the light came on they both raised exactly like they should. I checked everything with my temp gun, and even the floor is good. My electric bill is undoubtedly going to suck, but my tortoises are safe and warm.
I have a mini oil radiant heater and a Kane mat in each 4X8 foot box.

You might be pleasantly surprised at your electric bill. If your boxes are well insulated enough to keep the inside at 80 while it is 7 outside, I'll bet the heater is not staying on all the time.

And thank you for the complement. I'm glad my threads helped you!
