I wasn't sure what category this topic would fall in, but I guessed health (even though it's about humans).
Can humans catch salmonella from tortoises? I came across something on the Internet but there were mixed views.
Thanks:)

Almost every living body contains salmonella. You probably have a few of them inside you. It's really not something that one would "catch."

It is more likely that you would contact salmonella from handling money, uncooked chicken or eggs than you would from a healthy tortoise.

The thing to remember is to always wash your hands after handling the tortoise or its equipment.

Always wash hands. Don't eat reptile poop. Don't lick reptile anuses.

Do these things and you likely will not get any major illness stemmed from Salmonella.
