Safe to eat Thistle???

We have this huge thistle type plant on our property (located in Milton/Pensacola Florida) it has sharp spines and yellowish cream buds on, plant app said it was a Yellow Thistle, are these safe for our Sulcata to eat, spines and all? ?

I can't say for sure, but we have the other type of thistle here with the purple flowers, and I feed that one to my tortoises, spines and all.
