Russian tortoise drinking water

Is it normal for my RT to drink water during her soak? She does it more often than I would have expected. I’ve had her for two weeks.

Yes and it's a good thing.
However, why is he so thirsty when being soaked?
Does he have a water dish in his enclosure?
Is it a shallow clay saucer big enough for him to get into?
If it's not then you need to change it and bury it level with the substrate

Yes, he never seems to use his water dish, I suspect it’s too small. I am concerned as to why he seems to thirsty. I ordered a bigger one, but this one is HUGE! Online shopping frustrations. Im going to swipe a saucer from one of my plants.
