I wrote a while back asking advice on some eggs my Russian laid, and I wanted to give you an update. The four eggs she laid in May were not fertile, but she laid two more in early June and both hatched last week.
One had a large yolk sac. I kept him in the incubator in a small container on a nest of damp paper towels. However, the yolk sac was not absorbed. It ruptured after 3 days, so we had to remove it. He's still in the incubator on moist paper towels while he recuperates. I soak him twice a day, but he's lethargic and hasn't eaten anything yet.
The other one is doing great. He's in his enclosure and is very active (and eating). As it's an Olympic year, I call him Olly.
