Redfoots vs. Yellowfoots

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, but it seems to me that most of the yellowfoots I've seen have much lighter shells with a lot more yellow than the redfoots. Is this generally the case with all yellowfoots, or am I just seeing light tortoises?

I think the female in the above ad is absolutely STUNNING! If most yellowfoots are indeed light like that, I'm seriously thinking about getting a yellowfoot instead of a redfoot.

One other thing that I've noticed also is that yellowfoots don't seem to pyramid as easily as redfoots? Or is that not the case? I've seen a website where the dealer has redfoots and yellowfoots the same size (around 6 inches) and the redfoots are pyramided but the yellows aren't. Why is this?

One thing you may be noticing is that wild caught yellow foots have smooth shells. Anytime you see a large animal, you can assume its WC. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Yes, in general, Yellow-foot carapaces are often more brownish than Red-foot as I understand it.
