Hi, we have recently re-homed a Hermann tortoise here in the UK and she has not been hibernated yet. We are bit concerned that she is not eating, only small amounts when tempting her. We have the correct set up with heat mats and correct lighting. Is this because of the time of year or do tortoises get affected by moving from one home to another? Any helpful advice would be welcome.

You say you have the "correct set up," but "correct" to you may mean something different than "correct" means to us. Give us the perameters please. Maybe even show us pictures of the enclosure and the animal in it.

But, yes, your first instinct may be the correct one. Tortoises are terriotorial and it's hard on them to be moved to a new territory. You may just have to give him time. But we can help you with better answers once you answer my questions and post pictures.

The lamp is a combo uva, uvb and heat lamp bulb , temperature underneath it just under 40celcius , there is also a heat mat starting under the basking spot and going along to the “dry food” set at 37 with a thermostat , then the ambient temp in her hide is 22 Celsius in the day.
the table is bigger than her previous one and is double level although we have blocked off the lower level at the moment so it’s more akin to her previous home.
She had a vet checkup last weekend and the vet said everything seemed fine , she’s a healthy weight for her age/size , good eyes nose and mouth and the vet said she one of the most outgoing tortoises she has seen with regard to being out her shell and being handled etc .
