Questions about box turtle?

I have a little juvenile box turtle from someone that don't have room for it anymore.

I am using Eco Earth mixed with Repti Bark and I have a few leaves in there. Do you think that's okay?

Also, do you think I should hibernate it outdoors or just bring it inside? We have some bad winters so I'm afraid to leave it outside since it's just a juvenile.

Any other information about box turtles would be appreciated. Thank you

The substrate sounds good to me. I would not brumate (hibernate) her this winter. You should own a tortoise for a full year before hibernating so you can get to learn her/him better and know, they were properly taken care of for that year before doing the brumating.

I make a leaf pile in my turtles' indoor enclosure. It provides a hide, feeds worms, and breaks down to enrich the substrate.
