Question on leopard turtle skutes

One of my leopard turtles only has 10 skutes.. all my others have 13... is this normal?

That is interesting. I have no personal experience with leopards, but it looks like a vertebral scute is missing, along with a costal scute from each side is missing. I don't think it will cause problems, but someone will be along who will know for sure, but that is what I think.

It sure is gorgeous!

Normal? This is certainly common, and it happens from time to time, but by definition, scute "abnormalities" are not "normal".

This is a cosmetic detail and it is in no way harmful to the tortoise and it does not indicate anything bad or problematic. You tortoise has a unique and attractive scute pattern. I rather like it.
